This album is lovingly dedicated to my late sister, Elizabeth Head. Her spirit, strength, and memory continue to guide and inspire me every day.
ISKWAYWUK means “women” in the Cree language. This album is a celebration of women, the land, and love—the powerful forces that shape our lives, our stories, and our spirits.
The album cover features a powerful painting by Cree artist Ken Bighetty, who captured the essence of this vision through imagery that reflects the beauty of women, the strength of love, and the spirit of the northern territory. His work brings to life the connection between identity, tradition, and place.
Creating this album was more than a musical project—it was a spiritual journey. It was fun, it was healing, and at times, deeply enlightening. As someone who comes from a remote northern Manitoba reserve, this experience has been nothing short of incredible. It has allowed me to honour where I come from, uplift the voices of our women, and share a message of love grounded in culture and land.
This album is for the women who walk before us, beside us, and after us. It is for the land that holds us, and the love that connects us all.
